This role is essential in helping maintain vehicle performance and safety by performing routine maintenance tasks and identifying potential issues.

Job Overview

As an Oil Change Technician at Zabor Automotive, you will perform vital vehicle maintenance services, including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and essential vehicle inspections. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will ensure our customers’ vehicles run smoothly. You’ll also help maintain a clean and organized workspace, supporting the overall efficiency of our shop.

Key Responsibilities

• Oil Changes: Drain old engine oil, replace oil filters, and refill with new oil per manufacturer specifications.
• Tire Rotations: Rotate tires to promote even wear and extend tire life.
• Fluid Level Checks: Inspect and top off essential fluids, including coolant, brake fluid, and windshield washer fluid.
• Basic Inspections: Perform multi-point vehicle inspections to check for leaks, worn components, tire pressure, brake pad thickness, and light functionality.
• Aid Journeyman Techs: When appropriate, work alongside seasoned technicians to gain experience and knowledge of today’s complex automotive systems.
• Filter Replacements: Replace air filters and cabin air filters as needed.
• Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensure the work area is clean and organized, including proper disposal of used oil and fluids.
• Customer Service: Interact with customers, explain maintenance needs, and answer questions about services.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Basic Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding the components of a vehicle engine and its fluid systems.
• Hand Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using standard automotive tools such as wrenches, sockets, and oil drain pans.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to follow procedures carefully for accurate oil changes and inspections.
• Physical Ability: Capable of working under vehicles, lifting heavy components, and standing for extended periods.
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols when handling hazardous materials like oil and chemicals.

Minimum Requirements

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow instructions, whether written or oral.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, and reaching.
• Good or correctable vision and no known allergies to industrial chemicals used in the shop.
• Willingness to participate in safety and medical training programs, including understanding Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
